Know Your Teeth Infobites What Is Cosmetic Dentistry

What Is Cosmetic Dentistry
From subtle changes to major repairs, your dentist can perform a variety of procedures to improve your smile. There are many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discolored, chipped, misshapen or missing. Your dentist can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter the length of your teeth. Common procedures include bleaching, bonding, crowns, veneers and reshaping and contouring. These improvements are not always just cosmetic. Many of these treatments can improve oral problems, such as your bite.

Tooth-shaping
Tooth shaping involves removing a small amount (generally 1 to 2 millimeters) of the enamel of the teeth. Tooth shaping can shorten long teeth, round off pointed teeth, and help create a pleasing smile that gently follows the contour of the lower lip. The procedure is quick and painless (the enamel has no nerves), and is usually completed in less than 30 minutes.Dentistry Cosmetic Treatments A small minority of patients gets slight sensitivity after tooth shaping. This can be remedied with prescription strength fluoride or in-office desensitizers. The procedure does not appear to cause any long-term damage to the teeth. Tooth shaping is relatively economical, and generally costs about $25 to $75 per tooth.

cosmetic dental
Cosmetic dentistry is a becoming an area of growing interest for many consumers in recent years. In fact, last year, consumers spent over one billion dollars on tooth whitening products and services alone. Cosmetic dental procedures can dramatically improve a person’s appearance and self-esteem. Some people are reluctant to inquire about cosmetic dental procedures because they are wary of the cost. While it is true that certain extensive cosmetic dental procedures can involve a substantial financial investment, I will describe three cosmetic procedures that cost less than $1000 Tooth whitening involves the use of peroxide-based materials for in-office or at-home systems to whiten teeth. Before tooth whitening, the patient must get all cavities filled, and the gums must be healthy. Most in-office systems use 35% hydrogen peroxide gels coupled with a high intensity light to whiten the teeth.

Dental Cosmetic Procedures
Teeth Whitening is ideal for people who have healthy teeth and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. Dental Treatment in France But this cosmetic procedure is not recommended for everyone, in your case ask your dentist.
Your Madison Dentist Can Reshape a Tooth
Enamel shaping, or recontouring, is a cosmetic procedure also known as enameloplasty, odontoplasty, tooth contouring, or simply tooth reshaping. Enamel shaping is a dental cosmetic process that involves contouring natural teeth to improve their overall appearance by removing small amounts of tooth enamel in order to change the length, shape, or surface contours of a tooth. The cosmetic goal of an enamel recontouring procedure is to correct problems in the aesthetic harmony and balance in the mouth in order to achieve a more attractive appearance.

Bonding & Veneers
Dental treatments like dental bonding and veneers are not only used to fix cavities or broken teeth but can also be used to improve the look of healthy teeth. Veneers are applied to the entire front surface of the tooth, whereas bonding is applied to a smaller portion of the tooth. Bonding and veneers make your teeth look better by changing their colour, shape, angle or spacing. Your dentist can fix teeth that are broken, chipped or cracked, that have spaces between them or that are discoloured. Cosmetic dental treatment can improve your smile and give you more confidence.

The World's Best Ecotourism Destinations

What  Is Ecotourism
Ecotourism, ecotravel, ecolodges and just generally being "eco" have become popular tourism sales pitches.  What is true ecotourism? What defines an ecolodge or an ecological company?  How is the surrounding community involved?  And finally, is ecotourism such a great thing anyways? In order to truly understand ecotourism and all of it's attendant pros and cons it is necessary to do some background research.  This page offers an introduction to the topic along with several links to more detailed information

Best Ecotourism Destinations
One afternoon in 1978 I found myself standing on the roof of a Land Rover in Kenya, watching the Samburu National Reserve—an arid stretch of the northern frontier roamed by rare wildlife and camera-wielding tourists—go up in flames. A good ecotourism This was the heyday of mass safari resorts, and while large operators raked in millions, the Samburu people, the ones the park was named after, weren't benefiting. Frustrated by this injustice, they'd rather imprudently torched the savanna. As gerenuks, impalas, and giraffes bounded to safer ground, I helped the park warden and his rangers, many of them in sandals, beat the fire back.

Sustainable Ecotourism
Sustainable tourism encompasses the responsible use of natural resources for recreation. This includes eco-friendly boating, whale and dolphin watching, snorkeling and scuba diving, fishing, and other forms of tourism.Ecotourism is defined as leisure travel that provides tourists with an educational and adventurous experience visiting complex and fascinating ecosystems and their associated cultures and traditions. The concept of ecotourism began in the late 1980's and increased in popularity in 2002 during the United Nations "International Year of Ecotourism." According to environmental and other organizations, ecotourism should have a minimal impact on both the environment and the culture. Malawi Exclusive Cultural Tour A good ecotourism operation will strive to support the community and encourage travelers to be culturally sensitive by training and employing local people and by purchasing local supplies and services to further stimulate the economy. Increasingly,

The Best Ecotourism Vacations, In U.S. National Parks and Around the World
The Daily Green looks at some of the best U.S. national parks, and the best ecotourism vacations anywhere in the world.Ecotourism and adventure travel are among the fastest growing segments of the global tourism trade, which is sometimes described as the world's biggest industry. While it is undeniable that travel uses resources and can harm the environment, it is also true that it can provide many benefits, such as supporting local economies, providing economic alternatives to exploititative practices, and spreading cross-cultural awareness. It is true that people are much more likely to protect the planet if they see it first hand. Some questions to ask tour providers: Do local people benefit directly from tourism dollars? Are transportation effects minimized? Are local materials used and local foods served? Is sensitive habitat protected? Are facilities energy and water efficient

If done right, eco-tourism can be a sustainable model for the environment creating a symbiotic relationship between the tourist and the location. By carefully constructing an eco-tourism program, a tourist location can provide for the current needs of the visitors and the local environment. It can also work to prevent any future harm from coming to the area thus allowing the local economy, environment, and society to be maintained. This model of eco-tourism can create a continually developing relationship between visitor and place that will work to benefit both throughout the years.

Cuba approves drug treatment for lung cancer

Cuba – Battling cancer with biotechnology
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Cuba, after cardiovascular diseases. It is estimated that every year about 21 000 people die of cancer on the island and more than 31 000 cancer cases are newly diagnosed.Cancer is one of the major killers in Cuba. This is partly because people live longer but also because many have adopted unhealthy lifestyles. Too many people use alcohol harmfully, eat unhealthily and use tobacco,” says Dr José Luis Di Fabio, the head of the WHO Country Office in Cuba. “Among men, prostate and lung cancers are the most common types of cancer, Lung Cancer Treatment and among women breast and cervical cancer are at the top of the list.”
  • In a certain lung cancer (not all lung cancers), the cells require a signal gone haywire to keep growing. The particular signal in this case is called EGF, a critical signal to make cells divide. Cancer cells love to divide.
  • The vaccine works by creating antibodies, the immune system’s soldiers, that are specifically targeted to EGF. By sopping up all the EGF around a tumor cell, they prevent that key signal from causing the tumor to grow.
  • When that is combined with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, the idea is that you could prevent a tumor from coming back.

Cuba - Investing In Biotechnology To Battle Cancer
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 31,000 new cancer diagnoses are made in Cuba each year, and that 21,000 patients die of the disease annually.Dr José Luis Di Fabio, the head of the WHO Country Office in Cuba, said:Cancer is one of the major killers in Cuba. This is partly because people live longer but also because many have adopted unhealthy lifestyles. Too many people use alcohol harmfully, eat unhealthily and use tobacco. Liver Cancer Treatments in India  Among men, prostate and lung cancers are the most common types of cancer, and among women breast and cervical cancer are at the top of the list."

Cuba Makes Cancer Treatment Breakthrough
At the 29th Havana International Fair, Cuban health researchers showed off a number of new cancer treatments. One of them, a therapeutic vaccine designed to treat tumors in lung cancer patients, is being heralded as a major breakthrough. Although the vaccine doesn’t cure cancer, it creates antibodies that make the disease manageable and provides hope for patients who were not showing any improvement from treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The vaccine has already been tested on 1,000 patients in Cuba and is being distributed at hospitals there free of charge. That’s a big deal for a country where smoking is part of the national culture and a leading cause of death. If it proves as successful as researchers say it is, it should give those suffering from lung cancer reason to celebrate – just not with a Cohiba.

treatment for lung cancer
Public health officials in Cuba recently announced that they have approved a new vaccine for use against lung cancer. The drug, called Racotumomab, was developed by researchers at Cuba’s Center for Molecular Immunology. Racotumomab is the second therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer recently created at the center. The first, called CimaVax-EGF, is intended for patients who showed no response to other forms of treatment,
